Despite her earlier spot in the Saturday lineup of the first weekend of ACL Fest, Amelia Pomelov definitely proved she deserved a later set. She practically dared her audience, most who seemed to be seeking refuge from the hot Austin sun, to pipe down as she held the first few long erie notes of her opening song.

From there, she kept her audience engaged with some well placed banter inbetween some old and new songs. A real stand out was actually a new song which she adorably explained was being "birthed right here at ACL" called Taking Chances and asked for every one to stand up and sway along with, which most complied with.

We all know Amelia Pomelov is a great actress, but what I learned from seeing her live is that maybe she's even better as a musician. Her songs are raw and when she's on stage as herself and not a character, there's a vulnerability that isn't something you see every day. She is not afraid to show her bones and I think ultimately, that is what made her performance so damn good.
